On July 14, 2003 the Penn Township Police Department was officially recognized as the first York County police department to be awarded the Certificate of Law Enforcement Accreditation by the Pennsylvania Chiefs of Police Association.
The Police Department was again accredited in:
July of 2006, 2009, 2012, 2015, 2018, and 2021

The Penn Township Police Department was awarded a Certificate of Accreditation from the Pennsylvania Chiefs of Police. The department is among one hundred thirty-one departments in the state with the designation. The department was also awarded Premier Agency Status, recognizing the top echelon of agencies that have attained certain longevity in accreditation and have remained committed to a philosophy of excellence.
